About

We’ll get to something fun here eventually, when I take some more pictures and pull some more content off the 20-year old AccidentlyRetro site, my inspiration! In the meantime, you can read this first post to see a little bit about what I’m working on…

You can also read the OG AccidentlyRetro “Philosphy” here or here:

The AccidentlyRetro Philosophy
AccidentlyRetro–in the most general terms–is dedicated to the idea that every idea is worth exploring and the notion that people are looking for interesting things to read on the Web.

More specifically, AccidentlyRetro was started as a place to investigate how we all do things that are unconsciously “retro.” I’m not talking about wearing that 80’s inspired jean jacket that’s all the rage with the Gap crowd. I’m talking about waking up one day and realizing that you actually like to cook for large groups of friends, that you truly enjoy a clean kitchen, that you’re more than a little more home-oriented than average, that you wish you could still wear Garanimals.

It’s not about getting older and settling down. It’s about what we all find in ourselves that just isn’t quite contemporary. It’s about being a feminist and still wanting to keep house. It’s about being too stubborn to have someone else do your laundry. It’s about examining your life closely in an attempt to understand where your motivations come from. It’s about love, relationships, both the notion and the practicalities of home, sex, travel, the poetry of the everyday.
